Yes, you have to be an Iowan to caucus.

The Republican Party of Iowa posted that reminder on X, the social media site, on Friday shortly after Casey DeSantis encouraged mothers and grandmothers from across the country to come to Iowa in support of her husband, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, in an interview on Fox News.

"We're asking all of these moms and grandmoms to come, from wherever it might be — North Carolina, South Carolina — and to descend upon the state of Iowa to be a part of the caucus. Because you do not have to be a resident of Iowa to be able to participate in the caucus," she said.

Florida's first lady later clarified on X that yes, you have to be a registered voter in Iowa to actually caucus. She said she's encouraging people to participate by volunteering for her husband's campaign in Iowa.

She can "clarify" all she wants, but it does NOT change the fact that she asked everyone to break the law.

THIS is what Authoritarians do.  They get people to break the law, so they can win elections, and then she would give them all a pardon.

However, Trump sought to paint both Ron DeSantis and Casey DeSantis as complicit in voter fraud, an issue that the former president has long used as a political wedge, notably in his 2020 election loss to now-President Joe Biden.

"We demand the Governor of Iowa Kim Reynolds clarify what the rules are and that the instructions given by the DeSantises are flagrantly wrong that could further disenfranchise caucus-goers," the Trump campaign said in a statement on Saturday. "Even the Republican Party of Iowa had to immediately issue a response to the DeSantises wrong information."
