Report addendum points to Wuhan lab origin

House Republicans have released an addendum to their Origins of COVID-19 (pdf) report released last year, concluding that evidence points to a leak from a Chinese lab as the source of the outbreak.

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee, released the updated (pdf) report on Aug. 2, which was authored by the panel’s Republican staff.

“As we continue to investigate the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic, I believe it’s time to completely dismiss the wet market as the source of the outbreak. Instead, as this report lays out, a preponderance of the evidence proves that all roads lead to the WIV,” McCaul said in a statement, referring to the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), the lab at the heart of the controversy over the origins of the CCP (Chinese Communist Party) virus, the pathogen that causes the disease COVID-19.

The addendum to the report cites multiple pieces of evidence in support of the conclusion that the virus leaked from the Wuhan lab, including actions by Chinese officials and scientists at the WIV to “hide or cover-up” the type of research being done at the facility. It also cites what it refers to as new and underreported information about lax safety protocols at the lab.

“The preponderance of evidence suggests SARS-CoV-2 was accidentally released from a Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory sometime prior to September 12, 2019,” the updated report reads. “The virus, or the viral sequence that was genetically manipulated, was likely collected in a cave in Yunnan Province, PRC, between 2012 and 2015.”

The updated report also says that Wuhan lab researchers, CCP officials, and “potentially American citizens” all “directly engaged in efforts to obfuscate information related to the origins of the virus and to suppress public debate of a possible lab leak.”

An Italian state-owned media company, Rai – Radiotelevisione Italiana, issued a stunning report about Chinese bioterror possibilities back in 2015.

The video, which was initially broadcast in Nov. 2015, demonstrated that Chinese scientists and researchers were studying a viral agent similar to coronavirus. They had allegedly derived a SARS-connected virus from mice and bats in order to find out if it could be modified to affect humans.

” It is a group of Chinese researchers attaching a protein taken from bats to the SARS virus, Acute Pneumonia, derived from mice. The output is a super coronavirus that could affect man. It remains closed in laboratories and it is only for study purposes, but is it worth the risk – creating such a great threat only for examination purposes?” the English translation of Italian report said.

The report described the mad science that the Chinese researchers were allegedly concocting, which could be seen as biological warfare in action.

“Here is an experiment in China, in which a group of scientists has managed to develop a chimera – an organism modified by attaching the surface protein of a coronavirus found in bats of the common species called the Great Horseshoe Bat, to a virus that causes SARS in mice, although in a non-fatal form. It was suspected that the protein could make the chimeric hybrid organism suitable for affecting humans, and the experiment confirmed it,” the report said.

“It is precisely this molecule, called SHCO14, that allows the coronavirus to attach itself to our respiratory cells and to trigger the syndrome. According to researchers, the two organisms, the original and even more so the engineered one, can infect humans directly from bats, without going through an intermediate species like the mouse, and it is this eventuality that raises many controversies,” the report added.

This viral research may have been the precursor that led to the COVID-19 Chinese coronavirus outbreak that is jeopardizing public health worldwide and could collapse the global economy.
