Celebrity or success in one field does not imply expertise in another. That bears repeating. However, it is the right of all to speak out and certainly not the domain of only politicians, who are often nothing but prostitutes. Worse, honestly. Whether a following develops is up to the people.

When I watch or read about sports, I'm NOT doing it to hear about politics or being scolded for any wrongs I'm accused of doing.

People in sports or entertainment are entitled to their opinions. Those whom they play to or entertain are entitled to turn them off if they don't agree  The 1st amendment includes all.
