Tillamook Ice cream, that is. Manufactured by good ole Oregon dairy cows, churned and manufactured right on our Northern Oregon coast - in Tillamook, Oregon.

Stop on by - on your way down US Highway 101 - as you road trip it along the scenic Pacific coast line from Washington State all the way through California. Make a stop at the Tillamook Cheese factory and stand in line for a scoop or two of that awesome ice cream - and on the way out pick up a package of cheese curds for the road of Tillamook's world champion cheddar - by the brick.

Hmmm - only got to spend a little over a day at the beach this holiday week-end - but made time to stand in that line with my hubby. Caramel Toffee Crunch this time. Heaven in a waffle cone.

Hmmmmmm..... what's that about Hurricane Earl? We had sun and calm skies along the Oregon coast - no wind standing right at the waters edge gazing out at the horizon. I am grateful Earl only did miminal damage all in all, people. It could have been far worse for the east coast. Far, far worse.

I love the Pacific Northwest.  My wife and I went down the coastal road from Astoria to California, but had no idea about this particular ice creamery.

My favorite place in the Pac NW was Sequim, WA.  I want to get back to visit.

It's too darned crowded here in NJ.  We're more densely populated than China and India.

When I was in Lincolnville, Maine in the 1995, I stopped at a small ice cream store that was fabulous, reminding me of ice cream that I had as a child but did not have for years.  In a trip back from Canada last year, I found the store closed a few years ago.  What a shame!

I agree that Puget Sound and locales like Sequim are hidden gems, indeed. How nice to hop on that ferry and be a million miles away from the congestion of the greater world.

We had some friends living there years ago - transpants from Alaka - but when we visited them during the time they lived in Sequim we never got to go out to eat - as we were too busy visiting, eating and eating and eating some more. So I missed my opportuinty to experience any of their local eateries.

Those were the days.

No so many road trips beyond Oregon's borders any more. And certainly it has been forever ago that I traveled up and down the Eastern Seaboard. If I could I would love to experience that ice cream store in Lincolnville. Someday.

We just came back from the Oregon Coast and it was beautiful weather for a change.  The Tillamook Cheese Factory is always fun to visit and I love the ice cream.  We went to Pacific City and had a meal at the Pelican Pub on the beach - watched the dory boats, the windsurfers and kayakers all out in full force.  We thought we would hit the road before Labor Day and come home to avoid all the traffic.

The other Oregon ice cream that is to die for is Umpqua - they have an Espresso Coffee ice cream with bits of chocolate in it that is sooo good.

We toured the plant last Memorial Day...it was wonderful...

The only problem was the white cheddar that Thing 2 fell in love with has a backlog waiting list of about 3 months...LOL

Takn - Thing 2 has good taste! You are referring to Tillamook's extra sharp white cheddar that IS to die for.

You can only get it in eight ounce packages for now at the factory  - so it is gone before we get home if we have our kids with us.

One time the hubby and I actually got back to the cabin and made grilled cheese sandwiches with it - out of this world ! Absolutely.
