Title: Recovering
Post by: emilyB on 05 22, 19, 11:57:12:PM
Thank you all so much for your kind thoughts and prayers.  I must have missed these posts.

Roy is recovering and ready to go!  He had extensive removal of tumors and we were dreading last Monday's post op appointment when we would learn the results of the biopsies.  Even the doctor was surprised when it came back low grade and it was a huge relief to know that there were no hard decisions to be made at this time.  It is what it is.  He is to go back first week of August for a re-check.  This must be the second or third battle he has fought since 2004, however this time the healing process is taking a little longer.  He is a fighter and very strong.  We are blessed to have the support of family and good friends and I appreciate you all on here so much.  Thank you again.

Thank you Pacifica, we can only hope that he listens to the many words of advice and doesn't rush back to doing all the heavy duty work and projects he likes to keep himself busy with.  For the first time I hired a gardener without his knowledge to come and mow, weed whack and edge, over his protests that he could do it.  Not a happy camper, but I told him that it wasn't a permanent thing and I think he was grudgingly relieved (http://www.aesopsretreat.com/forum/Smileys/classic/wink.gif).

So glad the reports were better than expected.  We all know how hard headed men can be sometimes.  Take care of yourself as well, because as you know, you're no good to him when you are down yourself.

Here's to strength, fortitude, and a quick path of recovery.

Thanks takn, it's taking longer this time as more extensive work was done.  Thank God it is low grade, non aggressive as one kidney is almost done as there is a blockage in the ureter they couldn't get to without major surgery.  The doctor will keep an eye on it and as long as the other kidney is functioning properly, he can manage with that.  We try to enjoy each day we are given and not worry too much.

Thank you so much for your continued thoughts and prayers.  It is Week 5 today since the surgery and things haven't been  going so good over the past couple of weeks.  The healing process took a turn for the worse or so it seems.  He might have an infection or there are other scenarios that I don't care to think about.  The doctor is running a few tests and we will know more on Wednesday when he gets the results.  Trying not to stress out but it's hard.

Recovery still very slow and Roy went to see the specialist at the end of last week.  They are going to monitor him until his next scheduled visit on August 5th and if still not healing he will go back in the hospital.  He wouldn't let me go with him this time and I think it was because he wanted to vent.  I told him to ask the Doctor if there was something he could take to calm him down and he did, but by the time he got home he forgot the name.  He was supposed to ask our primary care doctor to prescribe it for him.  I have to go in myself tomorrow for a skin tag I'm concerned about, so I'm going to ask for that happy pill!  He probably won't take it!
