I have normally been able to separate politics from friendship, and have been able to maintain friendships with even the fringe elements of the right and the left.

lately, in this very volatile political time, have you experienced/observed, for felt that more and more...this is difficult?

have many of your friends drawn a line in the sand and avowed, "if you believe x, Y and Z, we can't be friends..."?

I don't talk politics with friends and excuse myself if they start.

you just have to remind the right wing all the time that Jesus was a liberal and that the reality of our human experience has a definite liberal bias.

I don't believe anyone has ever lost a real friend over politics.

I don't shy away and because of it, several younger members of the family dropped me from their FB friends, LOL.

The only time it bothered me was when we hosted a family reunion and they chose not to attend because they were "afraid" the "politics" would get in the way...I cordially responded that we would miss them.

I have never felt that any subject was off the table.  I always preface my conversations with friends and family that "sometimes we'll just have to agree to disagree"...I love to argue politics, weather, favorite foods, parenting styles...etc, but for someone to choose to distance themselves from the family, because they don't want to talk politics?  Well, then obviously they aren't adult enough to say, hey, let's not talk about that right now.

There wasn't a single political argument at our party and I have both liberal and conservative members of all ages...so they really did miss out on some great fun. 

Just use facts against the liberals and they'll be the ones getting butt hurt because all they can spew is MSM talking points, not reality.

My family is very middle road so we have no problems discussing what is going on. My neighbors, on the other hand, are very liberal. I will say most of them are pretty discussed with the protestors and the liberal governments reaction. Probably because they all are senior citizens.

We are starting to come back to the office and telecommute less frequently. 

I was talking to several (six) different female colleagues.   They no longer feel same walking to work from the bus stop, train stop or ferry.

And seattle police are quitting in mass numbers. 


This city is a god damn joke.  Now they are going to shut down the local jail in downtown.   What do you think is gonna happen?

Do the voters support this crap?  If not, hopefully they can vote out the culprits soon.  I’m glad SEA-TAC is far away from the city center.

2 cousins I was very close with as a kid because we are the same age and we remained close until 2016, when they said "Trump supporters are racist" at which time I used liberal logic on them and simply stated "If that's true then I have to assume and apply the same wide brush that all Democrats/liberals must be pedophiles" I have not spoken to them in 4 years.

Bhoddhi...work is also the only reason we remain in the region.  We love our property, but lately, even my husband has talked about selling and moving. 

Luckily, we are not near Seattle proper, but we can smell the stench and the failures of leadership are borderline treasonous.  Have you seen Seattle is Dying by Eric Johnson?  Visit the FB page Seattle looks like Shit or Tacoma looks like trash.  The whole region is getting worse by the day.  Even Everett is a pig sty.  They recently shut down the Everett Gospel men's shelter due to covid and it has had an even greater impact than they could have imagined. 

I am so done with Seattle.  We no longer recommend it to friends or family and we haven't gone into town in at least 3 years.  My heart breaks for all the former beauty and the history downtown...graffiti ed and blighted.  And all Kshama Sawant and Jenny Durkan see are opportunities to kill business by trying to strangle them with their tax plans.

he was planning on coming up here to seattle, and he's wondering if it's safe.  and I have to tell him the truth...Seattle, not so much.  granted, the PNW is beatiful and there is so much natural beauty here like in the moutains and parks we have...but Seattle, especially all the touristy areas have become a shit hole

We don't maintain close friendships with anyone that is not Republican/Conservation (aka, Normal), PERIOD.

I jsut can't get on board with excusing rioting/looting, attacking police officers, and pushing forward these ridiculous narratives about how terrible this country and how black peopel are being "slaughtered in the streets" by police and white people.
