Population control appeals to the left, most likely because of the part about control. Interestingly, I find the defense of Obama's Science advisor, Holdren, to be foolish. In the textbook, which he coauthored, he advocates for forced sterilizations. His defenders attempt to dismiss his remarks as reference to some future debate on possible methods that would one day be considered, yet, as the book was written the state of California where Holdren lived, the practice of eugenics was still around. This means that Holdren had to have known he wasn't refering to some abstract idea. He was defending a state practice.
