so was the damage done prior to January 2007 and now?  Keep in mind that dems have had roughly four years to fix the problem...so why have thing gotten worse, as unemployment has increased since the dems came to power in 2007 and continue to hold power in the White House and Senate.  So I would be very interested in hearing why this possible double dip recession is not your obama's doing.  Inquiring minds want to know!

When taking office on January 20, 2009, Obama said,

""Everywhere we look, there is work to be done," Obama said. "The state of the economy calls for action, bold and swift, and we will act -- not only to create new jobs but to lay a new foundation for growth. ... All this we can do. And all this we will do."

Sounded good, but unfortunately his plans haven't worked so far.  In fact...............................well you know!

Yep, the Democrats won the 2006 election because things were going bad.
1.5 million jobs lost in the two months before Obama took office.

Very true Jst the average after tax income in 1988 was $33,800, today it is $33,000.
Yet there are many more billionaires and billionaires.

Doesn't work fast enough for most Americans, that is for sure, we always like those one little pill quick cures.
Obama has had a lot of resistance to every thing he has tried to do.  Wanting Obama to fail is someone's agenda.

so you can not explain why unemployment went from 4.6%, the deficit from $168 billion under President Bush  to an unemployment of 10%+ and $1.6 trillion under obama and the dems comtrol?  Do I have that right, Don?

Actually that was Bush's low, it went way up later in his administration.  One and a half million people were laid off in the two months before Obama took office.
Obama didn't get elected because things were going so well and there was low unemployment.
If unemployment was at 4.5% and the housing market and finical market hadn't collapsed, McCain would be President.

exactly when in his administration did it go up and what were the reasons?

At the end of his administration. The reason was the economy tanked.   
I believe it tanked from big spending, cutting taxes, and not doing regulating.
You can find it, the department of labor keeps records.  Breitbart or what ever his name is won't tell you that, and I will not accept that kind of a source..

If you are going to claim it was because the Democrats became the majority in 2007, I will one ask you why they became the majority?  Ans:  Things were going bad and people were losing jobs.  Two: Just what law did they pass that hurt the economy?
Bush only vetoed one, that was spending for child care.  It was over ridden, with the help of the Republicans.  Democrats did not have a two thirds majority.  It was no way enough money to damage the economy. 
The Democrats did not pass any laws Bush didn't want other than that, they in fact gave him everything he asked for including in Oct 2008 the original TARP bail out bill, his people wrote.
