It seems like they are all going gradually and being replaced with reality talk shows.  Last year they cancelled the only one I ever watched - ATWT.  I got weaned off it surprisingly quickly after all the years I had watched, since coming to this country.  When I have a lot of ironing I like to have something good to watch so I am glad that I didn't switch to another soap, only to see it cancelled.  I think I will start recording Masterpiece Theater - they have some great movies on that channel (PBS) - that will probably get cancelled next!

My sister was a soaps fan when her kids were growing, then she turned them off for 8 years. On a trip to Cape Cod, she turned one on again, and in 10 minutes was all caught up on what had happened on the show in those eight years. 

Amazing!
