Getting acquainted!  Note in the second pic they had to put a muzzle on one dog.  He never did get to go off leash but it was a shame because his owner said he had arthritis and he was just scared of getting hurt, so he put up a big show of defense every time a dog came near him.  Hannah was just a social butterfly - not even a bark!

First pic - naughty dogs have to stay on leash until they calm down. 

In the second pic, the dogs at the gate are all waiting for the new dog in the little holding area before he enters.  They are called "greeters" .  Hannah was a "greeter" each time a new dog appeared - there was a lot of sniffing at either end and then the dog was welcomed into the circle.  Fascinating!  It's a great idea that the Humane Society have, holding the dog social every Friday.  I am sure they get dogs adopted this way too.

The volunteers all hold spray water bottles as, with most dogs, it only takes a quick spurt in the face if they get out of line

It sounds like wonderful therapy...and no dog can go wrong being socialized...
