Actually, let's be clear. Mr. Ferrguson is not a non-partisan, he was an advisor to John McCain.
 
The fact of the matter is that things have gone very well in Egypt. No on knows what will transpire there in the future but I think few would or could argue (except perhaps the Israeli's for their own reasons) that the situation was better in Egypt under Mubarrak.
 
It is not surprising that the army which remained as neutral as posible during the domonstrations would be the only stabilizing and respected force in the country during a period of transition. There is no reason to think that proper elections will not occur in Egypt as scheduled. Yes...bad things could happen, bad things can always happen but that is never an excuse for imposing the present bad things for fear of morre bad things in the future.
 
Mr Fergusons claim that revolutions are mostly inevitably bad is simply false. In the past 30 years we have seen vast changes in world power alignements and the vast majority of those revolutions have been for the better. Mr. Ferguson speaks forcefully (and somewhat condescendingly) but not convincingly.
