Go for a ride, drive across the United States, visit the big cities, what do you see, you see nothing, nothing at all, almost no activity. Bridges and roads in disrepair, Old buildings large and small falling down. Infrastructure collapsing from old age and abuse. Millions of people out of work and there is so much they should be doing. Where is the leadership in this country, there isn't any it is as simple as that. Now Go China, do the same think look around, look at its big cities, what do you see. You see Sky Scrapers going up by the hundreds, you see people hustling and bustling throughout the city, you see immense progress. The Chinese like to call it their brand of Socialism, everyone else likes to call it Capitalism. The Chinese are beating us at our own game, they have become the experts we have become the students, students that have not learned their lesson well. We are lazy and content, they are ambitious and want more, they are winners , we are losers. If you don't believe me do your own research, check on the progress of Shanghai and other Chinese cities. I am afraid we aren't even close to being number one anymore, despite what your leaders tell you.

I think one of the prime differences between today and say, back in the depression, when one of the hallmarks and high spots of the Roosevelt administration was putting people to work in public works projects, rebuilding roads, building some of the most gorgeous byway walls in our national parks, and along the nation's roadways, is entitlement...
 
Back then, people were happy to work, had work ethic and understood how their contibution was going to save this country...today, people seem to think that getting their hands dirty is sinful and beneath them and that their government should simply "provide" what they need...
 
That is why I have not been surprised that our recovery has not gotten a foothold.  And when my older son was 16 and won a civics competition comparing the excesses and attitudes of today w/ the downfall of the Roman empire, I realized that at least there are still some people who understand that we are our own worst enemy...a small contingent of Americans cannot do it all...the whole "bootstraps" attitude must be instilled, or re-instilled in America, from the White House to Main Street...

You must remember china is playing catch up with the rest of the world.  they have been behind for years .  My Hubby has been to China many times and get out of cities and is still back in the 19th century.  took him 3 days to get to one plant he was to work on machine at, flew, then train then boat.

China has a few advantages.  The average family lives in a space smaller than a two car garage.  And, they have a Policy that works well to inspire workers....
