There are 160 declared write in candidates.  Not all of them are for Murkowski.

State Law is very specific.  The law is the law.  It was written that way on purpose.  It's not supposed to be easy to win a write in campaign.  That's why we have primaries.  Unfortunately, Murkowski decided she didn't like the outcome of the primary election, so she launched a scorched Earth campaign.

according to Anchorage Daily News Presumably there are a few thousand votes for "Murkowzki," "Murkowskie," and maybe even a "Murkowsi."

I read the Daily News article, and Miller has only challenged a few dozen of such misspellings.
 

And Miller is trailling by only 13,000 votes.

With absentee votes counted, Miller has gained ground and now only trails by 11,000.

The specific purpose for the judge allowing only write in candidates that were on the official list, the list which was handed out to everyone that wanted a write in ballot, was to eliminate the "mind reading".
 
Given that they had the exact spelling of her name, and everyone elses name that was on the official list, if a write in ballot has a name that does not exactly match the official list, it should be thrown out.
 
Pure and simple.  If it doesn't match, throw it out.
