He only needs a PEN. Thats all he needed to open it.
Thats all he needed to close it. Thats all Trump needed.

Counties across Texas are reporting dozens of deaths related to last week’s violent winter storms that left millions without power. Hypothermia took many, such as an 11-year-old boy who died in his bed in his family’s unheated mobile home in Conroe. Carbon monoxide poisoning claimed the lives of an eight-year-old Houston girl and her mother; their family had started their car in the garage to keep warm in the bitter cold.

Just days before these tragedies, anticipating life-threatening winter conditions, Texas Governor Greg Abbott declared a state of disaster in “all 254 Texas counties.” The state’s power grid supervisor, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT), had petitioned the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to temporarily waive onerous regulatory quotas so it could ramp up production to weather the storm.

Biden’s DOE refused. His administration “basically ordered ERCOT to throttle its energy output by forcing it to comply with environmental green energy standards, while knowing full well Texans would freeze to death in their homes,” reports Adan Salazar for InfoWars.

DOE instead ordered ERCOT to purchase energy from outside the state, despite the fact that many of Texas’ neighbors were dealing with the same ferocious winter storm that the National Weather Service said stretched across 25 states, from southern Texas to northern Maine.

The Department of Energy also specified that, during the disaster, any power generated in Texas that exceeded federal emissions limits had to “be offered at a price no lower than $1,500/MWh.” (By comparison, ERCOT records a cost of $18.20 per megawatt-hour just one year ago, in February 2020. But DOE’s minimum bid pales in comparison to the $9,000 price tag set days later by ERCOT’s boss, the Public Utility Commission of Texas, due to record-setting demand and unprecedented scarcity of supply.)

DOE justified its lethal decision and price gouging tactics “because the additional generation may result in a conflict with environmental standards and requirements.” So much for the lives of Texans; at least the feds curbed excess carbon dioxide emissions during the storm.

In review, the New American publishes news that is favorable to the right. There is the frequent use of loaded emotional wording such as this: Rep. Massie Ridicules John Kerry’s “Pseudo-Science” on Climate. This story is sourced back to old New American articles and not too credible sources to support their claims. When it comes to science New American does not support the consensus of science on climate change. In general, New American publishes stories that are always favorable to the right such as this: Seattle Is Dying: Radical “Progressivism” Is the Reason.

THAT was a fucking LIE!  Energy was STILL being run by a Trumper who NEVER replied...

DOE instead ordered ERCOT to purchase energy from outside the state, despite the fact that many of Texas’ neighbors were dealing with the same ferocious winter storm that the National Weather Service said stretched across 25 states, from southern Texas to northern Maine.

ANOTHER Lie, since the Texas grid is SEPARATE from other state grids, it does CANNOT buy electricity from other grids.

Wow, lies upon lies, upon lies.  ALL you have are LIES!

Bullshit Truman.

Biden is president now. The DOE is under him.

The Texas Interconnection is maintained as a separate grid for political, rather than technical reasons, but can also draw some power from other grids using ties.

Had Texas been allowed to go full capacity it could have handled the load and averted deaths and weather damage. That being said, Texas did screw up because gas lines and wind turbines should have been weatherized and that also averted deaths and weather damage.

There are enough sins to go around between state and Fed in this FUBAR screw-up.

I like how local coaches is by saying that "if Texas had been allowed to go full capacity".

Who wasn't allowing them to go "full capacity" local?

The DOE. If you bothered to read, the DOE also cut output to meet green policies and set the price.

If you look at history dems have always wanted to raise fossil fuel prices in order to make green fuels/power cost effective.

There wasn 't any problem with output goofy.   The problem was the infrastructure for the power system hadn't been winterized.

The request was sent on Feb. 14 and asks the Acting Secretary of Energy, David Huizenga, to allow certain power plants to operate at maximum levels and be allowed to exceed federal limits on emissions and wastewater release until Feb. 19.

The DOE granted ERCOT’s request at 7:41 p.m. CST on Feb. 14. ERCOT officials could not tell KPRC 2 at what time the request to DOE was made, but did provide us with a notice to “All ERCOT Market Participants,” notifying them of the DOE request at 5:58 p.m. CST.
