EV maker Rivian cutting 6% of workforce, but manufacturing jobs spared!

Rivian's layoffs will hit about 840 workers, but manufacturing jobs won't be affected!

Rivian Automotive announced Wednesday that it's laying off 6% of its workforce as the electric vehicle maker looks to cut costs while ramping up production in an increasingly competitive EV market.

CEO R.J. Scaringe informed employees of the layoffs in an emailed letter obtained by FOX Business in which he said he was "deeply sorry" for the cuts.

"To deliver over the long-term, we must focus our resources on ramp and our path to profitability while ensuring we have the right set of future products, services and technology that will continue to challenge convention," Scaringe wrote. "Continuing to improve our operating efficiency on our path to profitability is a core objective and requires us to concentrate our investments and resources on the highest impact parts of our business."

Brian Deese says 'it has been an unspeakable privilege' to serve the Biden White House!

Brian Deese, a top economic adviser to President Biden and one of the architects of his $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan, will step down from his position this month, Fox Business has confirmed.

Deese will resign as director of the National Economic Council in the coming weeks, according to a senior White House official.

"It has been an unspeakable privilege to serve @POTUS," Deese tweeted Thursday. "Thank you: For putting your trust in me; For leading us with resolve and integrity; and For Your unwavering vision that we can and will build an economy that works for all Americans."

Beijing Biden slaps 20-year mining ban on Minnesota land giving more power to China!
Biden admin passes 20-year mining ban on more than 225K acres of northern Minnesota forest!

Despite the supply of precious minerals in the U.S. being depleted, the Biden administration made a policy move last week that will only exacerbate the problem, according to GOP lawmakers and experts.

"This has been a long problem, but the Green Movement is essentially a reverse opium trade, where the United States buys overpriced green technologies from Chinese manufacturers that, in turn, makes our manufacturing more expensive," Common Sense Society executive director Christopher Bedford said Friday in reaction on "Mornings with Maria."

On Sunday, the U.S. Department of the Interior and the U.S. Department of Agriculture under President Biden announced the 20-year withdrawal of more than 225,000 acres of northern Minnesota forest land, which is home to some of the largest domestic mineral reserves.

According to the House Committee on Natural Resources, this ban includes the Twin Metals mine, which taps into vast domestic supplies of minerals like copper and nickel that are necessary for renewable energy, computer systems, defense applications and essential household products.

Although job gains were broad-based last month, the leisure and hospitality sector – the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic – led the way in hiring, adding another 128,000 workers last month. Bars and restaurants accounted for the bulk of those gains, adding 98,600 workers in January.
