Lending a whole new meaning to the term “heavy breather,” a man was arrested Sunday for exhaling onto women at Trump’s Virginia golf course.

Raymond Deskins, 61, was charged with misdemeanor assault after a private citizen obtained a warrant through a county magistrate, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday.

Clad in a “Trump: Make America Great Again” T-shirt and wearing an inflatable pool tube with a Trump head on it around his waist, he was caught on video grinning as he huffed in the direction of two women.

“That’s assault,” one of them said, according to the Associated Press.

“I breathed on you,” Deskins replied.

They were near the entrance to Trump National Golf Club, where the president was playing and where both protestors and supporters regularly gather when he plays.

The women he exhaled onto had just asked him to keep his distance, pointing out he wasn’t wearing a mask. Masks aren’t required outside in Virginia, according to AP.

Video of at least part of the incident was shared on social media. Since the alleged assault wasn’t witnessed by law enforcement and was only partially caught on video, the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office told them they’d have to apply for a warrant through a county magistrate, which is what they did.

Local government wants to take it a step further, considering that people infected with coronavirus but not showing symptoms can sicken, or even kill, someone they breathe on.

“The women were both wearing masks and had not approached the man,” wrote the Loudoun County Board of Supervisors to law enforcement on Sunday requesting a complete investigation. “We are in a hundred-year, highly contagious, worldwide pandemic of a deadly virus that has killed more than 250,000 Americans. Willfully coughing in someone’s face is clearly dangerous.”

Assault is generally defined as an intentional act that causes injury or causes a victim to fear injury. By this definition, coughing on someone and claiming to have COVID-19 is undoubtedly assault, but the degree of assault is still open to interpretation.
