Biden Does NOT need a BILL to close the border
He only needs a PEN. Thats all he needed to open it.
Thats all he needed to close it. Thats all Trump needed.
Maybe this is just Proof Trump is better than Biden.

Dontblameme, you are 100% correct. Not only would the democrats, as well as republicans who support this slothfullness, be gone, but we as a nation would be far better off. Those who now live welfare check to welfare check would know the independence that comes with their hard work. Those who now expect the government to fund their lives would demand that their taxes be spent in a more prudent manner. Those who now wonder why we don't pander to criminals would demand that our society respect the property of others, as they have worked for it. In almost every area of culture would be reflected the industry that provided for our lives. America would fair much better to begin cutting the rolls of those who refuse to work. Imagine a city where people did not fear violence because those who work for their sustenance out number those who prey on the hard work of others, and keep the indolent in check.

President Clinton got the ball rolling when he signed the historic Personal Responsibility and Work Opportunity   Reconciliation Act of 1996, popularly known as the Welfare Reform Bill or Law. It repealed the 60-year-old Aid to Families   with Dependent Children (AFDC) program and replaced it with the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) program. The Administration   for Children and Families administers TANF along with several other Federal programs, in partnership with state, local   and tribal governmental agencies.

The new law changed the goal of welfare from income maintenance to employment. It was originally designed to help welfare   recipients land government jobs, but Clinton also urged private-sector businesses, nonprofit   organizations and religious groups across the Nation to take the extra steps to train and employ people in need.

Very well stated bob.

Grio...the 1996 act was a stellar moment in our nation's independence from political strangleholds, unfortunately, just like so many other programs, the follow through sucked...or provisions were ignored or repealed and we've ended up worse off than before.

I kept asking during the Bush years, what the hell happened to Welfare to Work.  One problem was the WIA (workplace investment act), which shifted some funding from WTW and gave opportunities to the generally unemployed (those who were laid off or exhausted unemployment benefits)...which ended up stopping opportunities for those we most need to get back up on their feet.

Part of the problem still, in my eyes, is that there is a mindset that certain jobs have no value or are below Americans...that is so wholly untrue its' sickening...there is not one damn thing wrong with getting your hands dirty or breaking a sweat and I believe we have the right to expect that people being given money from the taxpayers must earn it in some way...all welfare recipients should be required to do some kind of community service...be that working in a shelter, daycare, parks systems, schools...etc...that way they can build some self-esteem and possibly skills to help them gain real employment.

Continuing to coddle does NOTHING but drive us deeper into the ground.

So mud is saying the great recession started under Obama? It started by dick in bush and the republican congressional decisions for 8 years prior to Obama coming  to office. NO President has ever come to office and stopped a recession from his day one. Thank you Obama for stopping the 800,000 per month job lost in just 18 months.
