House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sought to include a potential way to guarantee federal funding for abortion into the coronavirus economic stimulus plan, according to multiple senior White House officials.
Speaking to the Daily Caller, those officials alleged that while negotiating the stimulus with U.S. Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin, Pelosi tried to lobby for “several” provisions that stalled bipartisan commitment to the effort. One was a mandate for up to $1 billion to reimburse laboratory claims, which White House officials say would set a precedent of health spending without protections outlined in the Hyde Amendment.

“A new mandatory funding stream that does not have Hyde protections would be unprecedented,” one White House official explained. “Under the guise of protecting people, Speaker Pelosi is working to make sure taxpayer dollars are spent covering abortion — which is not only backwards, but goes against historical norms.”
A second White House official referred to the provision as a “slush fund” and yet another questioned “what the Hyde Amendment and abortion have to do with protecting Americans from coronavirus?”

Politico confirmed after this article went to press that the Hyde Amendment provision was eventually removed from the stimulus later on Thursday and will hit the House floor as a separate bill.

The first confirmed case in the United States was on the West Coast. The spread was faster than governments or hospitals were prepared for. The World Health Organization declared it a pandemic, and the U.S. president eventually declared a national emergency.

“They didn’t do anything about it,” Trump said of the Obama administration in a March 4 interview with Fox News Channel’s Sean Hannity. “Interestingly, with the swine flu, children were—in particular, they were vulnerable, sort of the opposite in that respect. But children were very vulnerable to the swine flu.”

“But they never did close the borders,” he said. “I don’t think they ever did have the travel ban. And we did. And, again, they lost at least 13,000.”

The president rounded up the number of deaths. With regard to the border, H1N1 began in Mexico, but it broke out almost entirely in North America, and thus there was no travel ban.

Two months into the current health crisis, there have been 3,487 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the United States across 49 states, with 69 deaths, according to the coronavirus.gov website set up by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Trump made the comment to Hannity amid heavy criticism from Democrats and left-leaning media outlets that his response to COVID-19 was poor.

Medical professionals say, however, that it’s difficult to compare the ailments or the government’s response.

“It’s not an apples-to-apples comparison in terms of response.
H1N1 was a type of influenza. The development of the vaccine was fairly straight forward,” Dr. Lee Gross, owner of Epiphany Health and president of Docs 4 Patient Care Foundation, told The Daily Signal.

“COVID-19 is essentially a brand new virus,” Gross said. “So we have had to use technology that wasn’t meant for it to fight coronavirus. We’re building a parachute on the way down.”

A new analysis from the U.S. government concerning the origin point of the coronavirus that has swept the globe and left a trail of dead bodies thousands deep has discovered that the most likely source of the illness is a laboratory located in Wuhan, China.
As you can imagine, all of those on the left who were screaming at President Trump for pointing the finger at China for this pandemic, calling him a racist, are probably going to have a serious meltdown after seeing this report. All of the information that we have thus far definitely points to China being responsible for this mess.
The analysis was released as a document that was compiled from open sources and is not yet a completed product. It makes clear, however, that as of right now, there is no smoking gun that solidly puts the coronavirus on the shoulders of the Wuhan Institute of Virology or the Wuhan branch of the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, both of which are located in the city were the outbreaks were reported.
But the paper did indicate there is “circumstantial evidence to suggest such may be the case.”
Seems the evidence continues to pile up in favor of this particular theory concerning COVID-19’s origins.

U.S. officials have grown increasingly skeptical of that version of events. President Trump confirmed this month that “a lot of people” are investigating the origin. Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said U.S. intelligence agencies are investigating whether the virus escaped from a lab or was the result of a naturally occurring outbreak.

Geneticist Peter Forster, from the U.K.'s University of Cambridge, is leading a research project to understand the historical processes that led to the COVID-19 pandemic. Ultimately, they hope to identify the first person who got the virus and served as the source for the initial outbreak. By analyzing networks, they have so far been able to chart the spread of the virus, including the genetic mutations, as it moved from China to Australia, Europe and the rest of the world.
