Our son re-enlisted again and although I can't offer too much personal information here, the event was something for the ages...dignitaries and lots of pomp and circumstance for my kid...my kid, the same little twerp who refused to play by the rules all through school, rewrote service manuals because he was bored, and stood up to Admirals and told them how inefficient they were running their Navy.

He's signed on for another 3 years, which will put him at 16...which is just a stone's throw from 21 and retirement with full everything! 

We are beyond ecstatic for his achievements!

Hoo-Ah!

My grand daughter's hubby erupted two years ago for 8.  They are stationed in Pearl now and their first son was born there five months ago.  They wish they were back in Bremerton.

(When is was in the Army, people re-upping pretty much keep it a secret.  It was a popular thing among the low paid, mostly draftees.)

Don, he wanted to come back to WA as well, but he didn't want to go back to the long-patrol boomers...and his wife said she wouldn't mind a few years on the beach.  She's a nurse so she can land a job anywhere.

They don't miss the patrols, especially since becoming parents. 
Is is the cost of things, crime and the attatude of many of the people they don't like.
Bremerton was cheaper, and much friendlier.
I'm hoping they can get to the Undersea Warfare school in San Diego, but they say it will probably be back East.
