We have the best neighbors!

We have had 2 huge piles of log rounds sitting at the back of our property since we moved in...some from the previous owner, some from the trees the power company took out along the road...and the hubby has stared at them, and bemoaned needing to chop the wood.  After we moved the storage shed behind the house, I thought we would get right on chopping, but nope, it sat all summer, because hubby just hasn't been up to it.  Well, our neighbor loaned him a log splitter and we have been going to town...with him splitting, and me stacking, we've whittled down nearly 1 entire pile.

Lovely!  Log splitters are the best way. 
Axes and mauls are for the very young, or people that don't know better, like my son in Nova Scotia.

Yes, they are...our very ambitious 30 year old son, the Navy Chief, had convinced himself he would chop both piles while he was home for a week this summer...of course, between helping with the reunion, chasing his own kiddos, he managed to chop enough for 3 days around the firepit. 

There's a guy name Shane McDaniel who, with his sons, has been hand chopping wood for the needy...the city of Lake Stevens tried to fine him for the massive pile of wood in his yard...citizens fought against it...
