Baby Bluebirds

They are starting to spread their wings and visit our garden without mother around.

I like that bird feeder!  I had to take my humming bird feeder down yesterday.  It's situated on our deck rail hanging from a metal pole, just outside of the patio window so we can see them when we're dining.  I looked and it was full of ants!  They were climbing up the wooden deck slats on to the rail and then up the metal post and into the feeder.  They were coming from the ground below that surrounds our deck - it is a border with small rocks where I place plant pots.  Still trying to figure out how to get to the source.  We sprayed all around it but have to be careful not to affect our dog, the kitty visitor and wildlife that comes into the garden.  I daren't put a dish of Terro out there.

What if you put insecticide at the base of the pole and then lightly cover with mulch so the animals are not walking on it??

Dang, those ants are pesky boogers.
Have you tried an ant most?

We have dug ant poison into the earth below and cleaned the poles and deck rails.  So far,  so good.
