There are 196 different national flags in existence, representing the colorful countries and cultures
of our world. However, the most common color to appear on a flag is perhaps the least colorful: white,
which shows up on nearly 18 percent of country flags. Red—specifically the rich hue that we know here
in the U.S.—is second. The most common type of flag design includes a combination of three colors,
with red, white, and blue being the most commonly used. Thirty flags alone use different layouts of just
those three colors!
