The proposal for a safe gun storage public service campaign came after the Santa Fe High School shooting.

Police have said the then-17-year-old suspect took his father's weapons from their home.




so, the law appears to say...

that if you are reckless with the ownership of your gun and that lets another unauthorized person gain access to your weapon who then commits a crime...

you will be held legally accountable.

I don't totally disagree in the yes, when you are not around these weapons should be kept out of others hands. However, my belief is that a 17 yr old knows full well the capability of any gun and should face the consequences of their actions.

That safe could have been locked and the kid got the combination somehow, not sure, but if so the parent should not face charges.

That's like bill collectors coming after me if my dad owed someone just because we're related. Not my problem.
