idiot downstate politicians have used that narrative off and on for decades.

first, it isn't going to happen.  not ever.

second, a "resolution" is not legislation.  sorry you don't understand enough civics to understand the difference.

third,  Illinois Democrats have veto proof levels in both the state House and Senate, so the resolution is going nowhere.

fourth,  Chicago and Cook County have more economic power, as measured by GDP, than all but two other US Counties.  My suburban county and those "downstate" depend on the economic power of the city of Chicago


lastly,  you really don't want two Chicago Democratic United States Senators, do ya?
