How about those last few caravans jim?   Did they get across the border?  From what I've seen illegal border crossings are and have been going down since the 70's.

Why do you people think that by mentioning something in the past makes something now, OK?

There are less cardiac deaths now than in the 70's. Should we now STOP being aggressive on cardiac health?
There are less HIV deaths now than in the 70's. Should we STOP being aggressive with HIV?
There are less cancer deaths now than in the 70's. Should we STOP being aggressive on Cancer?
 
What does it even matter what the border crossings were like in the 70's in which only a few crossed at a time - as opposed to NOW that there are actual Caravans full of thousands coming with the false expectation of receiving FREE STUFF?   

And we still have the first caravan of several thousand still at the border.
 
BTW: WHO is at the other end gathering up and organizing these people with false expectations?  Don't you have any empathy at all for these people who are told they will be welcomed only to get here to find they are not?  No empathy at all ??
 
Even Mexicans are upset with these caravans. Why are you NOT ??
