They were popping in on the tree one at a time until a feral cat passed by....then they all flew away.

I would take that cat!  We're trying to adopt barn cats and you would not believe the paperwork for a pet adoption in this state.  One rescue center, I worked on the application for over an hour and still hadn't finished.  They wanted to know everything from your home confines to every pet you've ever owned, to pictures of the house and property and utility bills to prove you actually own it.

That's crazy when there are so many homeless animals needing to be adopted.  Our neighbors have a couple of rescue horses out in the rural area of our town.  They have a nice barn on the field and the barn cats just show up.  Our daughter went out to photograph them when she was here and they are so cute (about 4 of them) and we bought a big bag of cat food to help out.  One of them had kittens a few months ago and we got them all adopted.  I don't know what would have happened if the County got involved.  I would say if a stray cat turned up, feed it and it's yours and don't let any government entity know - they can just mind their own business because they are doing more harm than good when an animal is in need of food and shelter.

Thanks...there are 3 cats here. Somebody traps them, gets them "fixed" and brings them back and sets them free again. That is baloney making it so hard to adopt.
