Leftists long ago made up their minds that POTUS Donald Trump “colluded” with Russia to “steal the election” from Hillary Clinton, despite there being absolutely zero evidence that’s true.

Liberals have long-since closed their minds to the fact that there is nothing to prove the claim but quite a bit of evidence to disprove it.

The House Intelligence Committee released a report in April clearing the 2016 Trump campaign and the president himself.

Now, the report did note that Russia did try to “meddle” in the election, mostly by sowing division and distrust among the American electorate — something that the disgustingly dishonest establishment media has helped Moscow with.

But hasn’t Russia been doing this for a long time?

Yes, it has, and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo made that perfectly clear during an interview with Fox News on Thursday, as reported by The Daily Caller:

“It wasn’t just the 2016 election. Somehow America seems to forget the history of Russia’s efforts to undermine western democracy for decades now. It gets confused because there are those who want to make a partisan case of it with respect to the Mueller investigation,” Pompeo said of Russian interference.

The secretary of state continued, “The president understands what Russia did in our elections of 2016. He has empowered each of us to make sure that it doesn’t happen again in the 2018 or 2020 elections here in the United States as well.”

Deputy AG Rod Rosenstein got in on it too:

Pompeo’s comments were bolstered by Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein who said Thursday, ”This is not a new phenomenon. Throughout the 20th century, the Soviet Union used malign influence operations against the United States and many other countries. In 1963, for example, the KGB paid an American to distribute a book claiming that the FBI and the CIA assassinated President Kennedy.”

There’s more.

Also Thursday, FBI Director Christopher Wray not only downplayed the Russian threat, but he noted correctly that we face a bigger threat from China.

He said it’s a mistake to underestimate or downplay Chinese efforts, which amount to nothing short of Beijing wanting to “position itself as the sole dominant superpower. They’re trying to replace the United States in that role.”

He noted that China’s espionage is “a whole of state effort” which includes “economic espionage as well as traditional espionage and human sources as well as cyber means.”

“The volume of it, the pervasive of it, the significance of it, is something that I think this country cannot underestimate,” he noted.

A bit of truth.

Russian Targeting of Election Infrastructure During the 2016 Election: Summary of Initial Findings and Recommendations

The Committee found that in addition to the cyber activity directed at state election infrastructure, Russia undertook a wide variety of intelligence-related activities targeting the U.S. voting process. These activities began at least as early as 2014, continued through Election Day 2016, and included traditional information gathering efforts as well as operations likely aimed at preparing to discredit the integrity of the U.S. voting process and election results.

Conclusion

Finally, the Committee notes that, as is the case with all intelligence questions, information continues to be gathered and analyzed.  The Committee believes the conclusions of the ICA are sound, and notes that collection and analysis subsequent to the ICA's publication continue to reinforce its assessments. The Committee will remain vigilant in its oversight of the ongoing challenges presented by foreign nations attempting to secretly influence U.S. affairs.

The Republican-controlled House Intelligence Committee released a report in April clearing the 2016 Trump campaign and the president himself

in spite of leaving a long list of witnesses not called

and evidence not considered

over the objections of the Democrats on the panel.

The Senate issued its own report contradicting the partisan House findings.

And the US is guilty of it too...

Heck, obama was outwardly advocating it.  He ordered assassinations, he helped install other factions.  Please, the indignation over the 2016 election is almost laughable at this point...

In the famous words of the "loser"...

What difference does it make?

Senate Dems call for probe into why Trump has not issued Russia sanctions

The lawmakers sent a letter Friday asking the inspectors general of the State Department, Treasury Department and the intelligence community to examine the administration's failure to impose the financial penalties on Russia.

The penalties, they say, should fall under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), a bipartisan piece of legislation that passed Congress last year with overwhelming support.

“In light of these apparent violations and the lack of corresponding sanctions, we are concerned about whether the sanctions implementation process within the administration is fulfilling CAATSA’s mandate and intent,” the senators wrote Friday.

“Likewise, it seems clear that several weeks ago the administration had identified specific Russian entities that had played a role in supplying or otherwise supporting the government of Syria’s chemical weapons program, had prepared a list of such entities for sanctions designation, and Ambassador Nikki Haley publicly announced their imminent designation -- but then did not designate them, reportedly at the direction of the President," it stated.

The Trump administration told Congress in late January that CAATSA was already "serving as a deterrent" and there was no need to actually implement the penalties.

The Democrats pointed to an example last month in which the federal government released a joint statement with British authorities accusing Kremlin-linked hackers of carrying out cyberattacks in countries like the U.S., an act that "should trigger sanctions," they argued.

The senators also asked the agency watchdogs to provide information on why CAATSA has not been implemented, as well as if there are any obstacles preventing officials from implementing the measures.

The 2017 legislation allows President Trump to postpone imposing sanctions on people or entities if he determines they are largely scaling back their transactions with Russia's defense or intelligence sectors, as long as he notifies the appropriate congressional committees every 180 days that the administration is seeing such progress.

Trump signed CAATSA into law in August despite his initial protest over the "flawed legislation," which overwhelmingly passed through Congress in response to Russia's interference in the 2016 presidential election.

The legislation aims to prevent Russia from reaping financial proceeds from its military and intelligence equipment sales by punishing those that make such purchases. The law also limits Trump's ability to lift prior sanctions or return diplomatic compounds seized from Russia under the Obama administration.
