If even 5% of Black Americans left the reservation and voted for Republican Candidates, the Democrat Party would become extinct. So you can see why President Trump getting Black Americans off welfare and into the workforce is becoming a major problem for the Democrat Party.  But to keep Black enslaved, and voting Democrat, a movement within the Party to add reparations by 2022 is bing discussed.

In a little-noticed radio interview in late January, Rep. Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) became one of the most prominent members of Congress in recent history to suggest legislation to potentially provide reparations for slavery.

Congress should "look at moving forward" on legislation that would study the impact of slavery and whether reparations should be distributed, said Van Hollen, who is running for the open Senate seat in Maryland, in a Jan. 27 interview with the "Rock Newman Show" at Howard University.

The Senate candidate's comments flew under the radar until Graham Vyse of Inside Sources picked them up and wrote about them Thursday.

To reiterate and be completely clear, Van Hollen is saying he'd be open to considering a bill that considers reparations. His comments will hardly be a watershed moment for the reparations cause, a la Ta-Nehisi Coates's 2014 essay "The Case for Reparations."

But the fact that Van Hollen — a top member of House Democrats' leadership team in recent years — left open the possibility of reparations is notable in a country that has largely brushed it off. It's a cause that has generally been supported by a small number of lawmakers in Washington and not received a full airing.

The overwhelming majority of blacks are already in the workforce and plenty of whites are on welfare. And plenty of people on welfare vote rep.

The reason reps have a hard time with black voters is a) lots of reps are racist against blacks and b) lots of rep policies make life worse for blacks and c) reps are clueless on both counts. BLM is a prime example of that cluelessness.

lots of d's are racist against blacks, also! racists don't come with a party affiliation, they come with lack of education and familiarization. Many racists have never had the opportunity to live in an integrated society!

i always wondered why trying to help all people who need help, regardless of color or gender or any of that stuff, and only helping those who met certain guidelines about income and health and number of dependents, not race or gender, was somehow keeping blacks on some sort of plantation.  these social welfare programs, which help mainly kids and seniors anyway, are not black only or white only or muslim only, they are for everyone who qualifies.  if it creates a "plantation mentality," why does it only apply to black people, and not white people and others?  doesn't the fact some republicans like omiaqt believe this bullshit prove how racist they are to begin with?
