Bedspreads

We had a nice bed comforter with matching pillow shams and I took it to be laundered.  The trouble with these spreads that have all the fiberfill in is that when washed they go lumpy and they are never the same again.  The new spreads in the stores are now flat and stitched and can't go lumpy when washed.  They are quite heavy too although I loved the feel of the fluffy duvets and comforters in the winter - we used to call them eiderdowns in England.  We went into town today and Macy's had a sale on bedding and we decided to try this new kind of bedspread.  It really looks pretty and I'm hoping it will feel comfortable and still keep up warm.

That is bold sun.  Did you also find the flat bedspreads to be more comfy than the filled ones?  How does it wash?  We had two Macys in town and one went out last year and is now a huge Hobby Lobby.  The remaining Macys in the downtown mall is untidy and has tons of clearance.  I dont know how long it can last as it's not the Macys I used to enjoy.  Nordstrom went out this week too.

During the winter, I use sherpa blankets.  They are so warm, but during the summer I like to use lighter weight quilts.  I've been getting mine at Home Goods and Marshall's and they've stood up very well.

This is one that I bought when we were selling the other house.  The set with the shams was less than $50.

That's a pretty one takn and it has the same scalloped edge as the one I just got.  They had a 75% off sale so we got it for $59.99 and the pillow shams were $19.99 each.
