Biden Does NOT need a BILL to close the border
He only needs a PEN. Thats all he needed to open it.
Thats all he needed to close it. Thats all Trump needed.
Maybe this is just Proof Trump is better than Biden.

What did you dream?

This morning, the Captain posted this:

It opens with Woody Guthrie playing "All You Fascists Bound to Lose". I am delighted to see his guitar is marked in the various pictures "This Machine Kills Fascists".

Apparently this was in the 1940s when most people knew Hitler, in league with Mussolini, was a fascist. So there were many military machines in the war against Hitler and Mussolini, and here's Woody Guthrie doing his part on the home front, operating his sonic weaponry.

This reminded me of a song I used to hear on KEXP a lot before my work blocked their streaming technology. I knew it was Johnny Cash, I had to run it through my mind a bit to get the catch phrase: Cut you down.

He's talking to evil-doers, including in my opinion those who seek to play politics for corporate power. Here, play it:

I think there's a reason they don't teach any political science in the so-called History, Social Studies, whatever. I mean, corporate executives have prevented the books and teachers from telling us that the Fascists we fought World War II against, were the politicians who trashed their democracies by selling the concept that government would be so much better if it was run by corporations.

Thanks, wralst for letting me in on this extremely valuable insight on fascism. I had this foggy notion until now, that it was all about building a cult of popular idol-worship around one man. Now I see that is just a component of how corporations in fascism (and other players in other political strategies) promote political figureheads.

RW may indeed do well in November, but it's just one battle and y'all are way too confident about the war. You are angry because you know that soon you will be just one of several US minorities and no matter how your ranters play it, your views will lose.

On thinking of the nature of this corporate fascism however, I realize we should really worry about fascism. Angry White Men have been fascism's pawns for a while. Soon, as the AWM become just another minority, the corporate powers will adjust their PR and you will see them pandering to many other groups -- "See, we're doing this and that about your concerns. We're the good guys. Take it easy on those taxes and regulations. Buy our stuff."

I think the corporations are already adapting to the loss of the Angry White Men voting bloc. God help us.

Thanks, 87.  Excellent writing and great points!

Oh, and you seem like a highly intelligent person, who I'm sure had more than a "foggy notion" of what fascism was all about.

The thing that wralst did was to gather very concisely the elements that define fascism and put them into a terse statement of the facts...  which is a great help to me, too, since in trying to cover all bases with some important concepts, I have a more difficult time coralling all the necessary facts and details into short simple form.

And you?  Well...  I just like the way you put things.

Obama as expounded by Mussolini is the fascist. To whit:

“It must be clear,” a communication from the Duce informs them, “that authority cannot be divided ... Authority is single and unified. If it were not, we should fall back into a disorganized state.”

Arizona is a perfect example, the auto companies, the banks and etc.

In Germany the seventeen “states”, whose rights to their own governments and parliaments were preserved by the Weimar Constitution, have been gradually suppressed and transformed into mere provinces of the Reich, directly administered by representatives of the central government, the Statthalter. Extolling his centralizing work, Hitler boasts of having “given the people the Constitution that will make them strong”.

Doubtless there is something fascist education cannot stifle, and which does not need to be taught – the class instinct. No amount of propaganda will ever prevent the young worker from feeling he is exploited. Pietro Nenni, while far from claiming that the Black Shirt youth has already succeeded in freeing itself from the fascist grip, states that in Italy “many young people are socialists without knowing it and without wanting to be.” Il Maglio, the weekly paper of the fascist unionists of Turin, complains that among the youth there is a certain lack of understanding of fascist “unionism”:

While the state must carry huge incidental expenses, the big capitalists themselves have to stand a certain number: “voluntary contributions” extorted by the party and its “welfare” undertakings; various subscriptions; “graft” and seats on the boards of directors of big companies for the “upper crust” of the fascist leaders, etc.

And finally, the economic policy of fascism, however favorable to themselves it may be, is not entirely satisfactory to the big capitalists. Although they eagerly pocket the fabulous profits from armament orders, they are terrified at the possible consequences of this policy. They are haunted by the thought of a financial catastrophe. They likewise complain, as we have seen, that the “war economy” regime is constantly imposing on them more burdensome state regulations, that it is forever eating away at sacrosanct “private initiative”.

What the Hell are you talking about?

Or should I say, what do you think you're talking about, rancid orange?

None of that computes.

The fascist way is corporate control of government, not government control of corporations -- which is supposedly the socialist way according to you RWs -- unless you want to twist and paint it as the opposite.

Sounds like -- and in fact IS -- ONE GIANT CROCK of double talk!

Noted. What Mussolini is talking about there, is not fascism. It may have been cited as such, by people trying to illustrate what monsters the fascists were (are).

The quote is Mussolini's personal take on what we call "party discipline." Whether your mentor is Karl Rove, Il Duce, or Jack Welch, the message is "don't go behind our backs telling people otherwise; you'll help our enemies F with us big time."

Party discipline (has other names in other types of PR) is essential to successful PR, regardless of the organization -- good, bad, indifferent, agree with those people or not.

This explains why we haven't heard much from your fearless leader Michael Steele lately -- he got out of line, so now he's in the hospital waiting to have his foot surgically removed from his throat.
