According to a report from the Center for Responsive Politics, BP gave more campaign donations to the Obama campaign in the 2008 election cycle than to any other politician.

BP also took the step of hiring the Podesta Group, the lobbying firm headed up by Obama confidant John Podesta and his brother Tony, paying the firm $720,000 since 2008. All told, BP has spent just shy of $20 million on federal lobbying over the last two years.

The close working relationship between BP and the Obama administration has continued even in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon disaster.

DESPITE THOSE CONTRIBUTIONS, OBAMA IS NOT GIVING THE OIL COMPANIES ANY FAVORS IN RETURN.  HE IS TAKING THEM TO TASK FOR ALL THEIR SINS WHICH MEANS OBAMA CANNOT BE BOUGHT!

All kinds of corporations contribute to all political parties and candidates as a hedge in case one or the other party or candidate gets in, they think they have bought entree to either with their contributions.

BUT if the party or candidate that wins gives them NOTHING in the way of favors or overlooking those corporations' bad behavior -- that means that party or candidate cannot be bought!

Obama has NOT been bought by the oil companies or he'd be out there trying to give them a pass, and he's NOT doing that, in fact he's doing quite the opposite!

You do the math, Thomas, Oynes wasn't head of the MMS until Bush promoted him.

He was a Regional Director -- whose bad behavior and practices apparently came to light after Bush was elected and in spite of which Bush promoted him to the head position over off-shore drilling.

You're not going to hang that *bleep*, Oynes, on Obama, when Bush had him in there ALL 8 years and even promoted him AFTER a foul-up of his cost the tax-payers $10 BILLION in lost revenues!

BTW, 12 years back from 2010 is 2000, and no matter what position he had in MMS starting in that year, remember that was Clinton's last year in which he was being distracted by tax-payer-money-wasting Republicans putting him and the country through a specious impeachment process.

That's exactly how the Republicans screw the workings of government and screw the people, by diversion and distraction from the duties of government with partisan machination and manipulation.

Wouldn't you rather see your tax dollars go to make everybody healthy than to be thrown away on these distractions and diversions from the real work our government could be doing for the people?!

And Republicans like Bush knowingly promote hedonistic cretins that cost the tax-payers $BILLIONS & $BILLIONS!

Quote

Oynes -- a Bush appointee

Which is a flat out lie.

And then you said this....

Quote

Federal documents show that the Department of the Interior's Minerals Management Service (MMS) gave BP a "categorical exclusion" on April 6, 2009 to commence drilling with Deepwater Horizon.

Kierán Suckling, director of the Center for Biological Diversity, told the Post that the Obama administration's exemption effectively "put BP entirely in control," adding, "The agency's oversight role has devolved to little more than rubber-stamping British Petroleum's self-serving drilling plans."

The Obama administration's delivery of a special exemption for Deepwater Horizon in April 2009 is the latest in a litany of examples that reveal the close collaboration between the MMS and BP.

NO, neither one of those things is a lie.

YOU LIE!

Nothing I posted is a lie and I posted the sources from which I got the information and I get tired and bored to tears going over the same ground with you LYING IDIOTS.

You're just false and wrong, deceptive and deceitful about everything, but that's the way you like it.

It's all part of your agenda, and I'm sick of it.

So just stuff it.

Saying your lies are not lies does not make it so.

Fact, President did not appoint him nor did President Bush promote him.

You flat out lied and you posted nothing to support your lies.

NO YOU FLAT-OUT LIED AND ARE STILL LYING.  THIS HAPPENED UNDER BUSH, ON BUSH'S WATCH.  IT'S ON BUSH:

Johnnie Burton, the director of Bush's Minerals Management Service (MMS) from 2002 to 2007, in a recent interview says she has no regrets about her tenure, and that she found no problems within the agency, now disbanded in disgrace.

Burton -- at 70 now a case worker for Rep. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY) -- defended her record to the Caspar, WY, Star-Tribune. Under Burton, the 'mismanaged, unaccountable' agency was so corrupt that even pro-drilling Republicans like Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) bashed the agency. Burton responded with insouciant calm, telling the Star-Tribune 'when I was there it seemed to work well.'

Johnnie Burton, the director of Bush's Minerals Management Service (MMS) from 2002 to 2007 is the one who -- under Bush's auspices -- promoted Chris Oynes!

"During his tenure at the Gulf regional office in Louisiana for the MMS, Chris
Oynes played a central role in an offshore leasing foul-up that cost taxpayers an estimated $10 billion in lost revenue. The Interior Department's inspector general called the matter 'a jaw-dropping example of bureaucratic bungling.' Despite that, the agency's then-director [Johnnie Burton] promoted Mr. Oynes in 2007 to associate director for the offshore program."

I post facts and documentation, Thomas, all you post is your say-so and a bunch of smack!

So who should people believe?  Huh?  You or their own eyes?!

Not once have you posted ANYTHING that supported your first lie, that being that President Bush appointed him.  And not once did you post ANYTHING that supported your second, backpedal lie that he was promoted by President Bush.
