Biden Does NOT need a BILL to close the border
He only needs a PEN. Thats all he needed to open it.
Thats all he needed to close it. Thats all Trump needed.
Maybe this is just Proof Trump is better than Biden.

Just when you thought it just couldn't get any better......
New York state is fighting with the Seneca Nation over taxes on cigarettes. This led New York City Mayor Bloomberg to tell Governor Paterson to take a cowboy hat and shotgun and enforce the law. The Senecas called these remarks a hate crime and demanded that Bloomberg apologize or resign.

Well NY could just be like Washington state and give in to the Indians like our governor does...she doesn't even collect taxes from them for their multi-billion dollar making casinos...and still manages to get a healthy donation from them for her campaigns...

*LOL*  I'd say I don't know why this is cracking me up, but in fact I do know why.

Ever since Fred Armisen did his first SNL impression of David Paterson, whenever I see David Paterson and actually hear him speak or read the things he says -- I just crack up.

I actually like David Paterson quite a lot.

But I also like Mayor Bloomberg and can't imagine what he was thinking -- in the big picture scheme of things -- when he said what he said.

But he in no way meant that to be taken in a deathly literal sense!

So hate "crime?!"  No crime was committed.

And though some might relegate this to "hate speech," it was a bit of caustic wit -- which Bloomberg should have rethought before saying it -- HOWEVER calling what he said a "hate crime" is just going way too far.

In fact, a reaction like this is really further over the top than Bloomberg's gaff, because those pushing it are serious.

No one has said that they cannot sell untaxed cigarettes within their own community (ies), but if they sell outside their own community to other people in order to make money without paying the taxes not covered by their treaty -- then they are in the wrong.

I'm sorry, wralst, with all due respect, in many circumstances in the past the Amerinds have been badly treated by the non-Amerinds, but that doesn't mean that in every situation where the two go up against one another that the Amerinds are always in the right.

Jesus, the argument is as old as time...but 13, just what constitutes our being "non-Amerinds?"

Being that Vikings came across the land bridge, quite probably, before the Siberians or anyone came UP from the "Americas"...and North America (Canada) is as much a part of the "Americas" as the southern part...

The Indians may have occupied the North American continent, but they also did not sprout from mushrooms, their ancestors likely came from Spain and Eastern Europe...and laying claim to being indigenous has little to do with modern law in the first damn place...

You need to think before you post...rather than convolute the discussion, attempt to keep it simple...

"Physician heal thyself."

I very much do THINK before I post.  You should try it, takncara.  Your posts could use some thought.

Have you looked at a re-read what you just wrote here?  Talk about confusion and convolution!

But I didn't "convolute" nor even convolve anything.  I gave wralst a straightforward response which contained a description of something I find humorous about one of the parties mentioned, and then made a direct comment about the subject of the post.

I chose to use the term "Amerind" -- meaning American Indian -- because I think it's a beautiful term.  For one thing, it sounds like tamarind, a fruit whose seeds have a kind of mythological connection to sustenance and memory.  But unlike the term "Native American" -- which is also a good term -- people cannot use "Amerind" as an excuse to fight over the idea of who are the "real Native Americans" -- the way you just did regardless, takn.

What constitutes being a "non-Amerind," you ask?

Okay.  Non-Amerinds would be those Euro-American descents of people who came here mistakenly thinking they were finding a new and better passageway to India -- and hence mistakenly called the people they encountered here:  "Indians"

A non-Amerind would be someone not of American "Indian" descent.

Do you somehow feel that everyone is of American "Indian" descent?

Or where you just straining to find the next kitchen sink to throw at me in your never-ending quest to bust my chops over something, anything you can find to spin up into a log from a mote -- even where neither exists?

how did the spaniards get here to turn into american indians, takncare?  how the hell did you come up with that fantasy?  are you saying when the settlers came over they had just as much right to the land the Indians were on as they did because they came from Spain once upon a time?  are you really saying the Vikings own America because they got here before the Indians? what the hell are you saying?

By The Associated Press
BUFFALO, N.Y. — A federal judge has temporarily blocked New York state’s plans to tax the Seneca and Cayuga nations’ sales of cigarettes to non-Indian customers.

Judge Richard Arcara granted a request by the tribes for a court order that stops the state from imposing a $4.35 per pack sales tax on cigarettes sold by reservation retailers starting on Wednesday.

No one living and working in America should be exempt from paying equal taxes as every hardworking middle-class American does..
If the Indians don't want to pay taxes then they should become liberals and lie, cheat, steal or don't work..

what part of my post did you NOT understand then...?  It is highly likely that anyone calling themselves a "Native American", had ancestors who came from Spain and Eastern Europe...

Again, think before you post...or at least try to read for comprehension...
