We got hacked after our computer had been in a repair shop.  We tried to get everything personal on there taken off before we took it in but short of formatting the hard drive, you may still have stuff on there with weak passwords.  I'm not saying that this was the fault of the small business and the fellow that runs this is respectable and well known but he has a turnover in help, so you never know.

We had to shut down all bank accounts and credit cards and open new ones.  It was a big hassle.

I keep an external hard drive and back up my computer occasionally, though I don't keep every record or spreadsheets or anything of real value (save for photos) on it.  That way, if something happens, I can wipe the computer clean and I won't lose anything.

Viruses are generally introduced by us.  If you open an email that has a malware link, visit a shady website, don't regularly update your security software.  and phones are the worst.  I can't understand why people use them for everything, they are so vulnerable. 

Ditch everything but one phone, one tablet, one computer, whether a laptop or PC and move forward.  You live in a place where waste, fraud, and abuse are rampant, why trust anyone?  If it were me, I would wipe the slate clean altogether, sell your house for whatever you can get and never come back.  That is a toxic atmosphere and people now know you are too kind and will take advantage at every turn.  Stop being the neighborhood patsy, they all know it and will continue to abuse your kindness.

 Opportunity knocks and the thieves tried to get in...

 these are the times that we are in and the only thing  we can do is have damn good insurance seriously...

 most people are trying to control guns in our country but it's always better to have one  just in case someone enters while you're there...

 the police are only there to make a report for insurance purposes and to scrape dead bodies off the property..
