Nobody has amnesia. Nobody cares which party was the racist terrorist scum who put the statues up. What matters is saying "NO" to the racist terrorist scum of today and taking down those statues which only exist for racist terrorism.

The monument is NOT to honor any vets, the sole purpose is to intimidate blacks. Period. The one and only reason they exist is terrorism.

The statues are a reflection of our history when we legally owned slaves. sounds a bit like the Soviet Union or Russia.  After communism fell... There was a movement to destroy ALL of the statues of Lenin, Markx and a few others.  They went around the whole nation tearing down the statues of the former rulers..except in Stalingrad/Leningrad or St. Petersburg.  Originally named for Peter...but changed it to Stalingrad or Leningrad to impress the new current rulers.

St. Petersburg aka Stalingrad is the only place you can still find a statue to Communism... They said that to tear down these statues they are tearing up their history and they refused to do it.

It is the same with our Rebel statues...they cannot hide this ugly period of history by removing the symbols... They may as well go the the library and burn all of the history books or encyclopedias... and then destroy all of the computers and/or Wikipedia.

There will be some cities or locations in our country that will NOT ALLOW this to happen... As they should.  And if some benighted jerk thinks he can change the nation by destroying its history... If caught he should get about 30-45 years in a prison that has an open cell policy... Perhaps he can meet some new historians who will take offense with him/her or it.

The people represented by those statues broke no laws of their time. Their only sin is breaking laws and committing acts unacceptable in our time.

If we use your measure to determine which historical memorials should remain we would have damn few to none.
