Exactly sunshine.  Use only the approved viewer glasses, or, as some guys I know have done, a heavy duty welding helmet.  But no homemade devices or looking directly at it.

It would also destroy the sensor on your camera...not worth it.

We got our glasses from Amazon.  We are having a neighborhood Howl at the Moon party on the Friday night before.  I tried a pair of those glasses on and it's like going blind - I don't know how I'll see anything but I guess when the time comes they will work.  I'm wondering if it will be a big anti-climax here as the fires will still be going and they are causing so much haze.  We can't even see the mountains when we look out now.  This might be in the path of totality where I live but it won't be the best place if the sky is overcast and the atmosphere is smog from wildfires.

Some are making it to be the next Y2K....I think nothing will happen...and then what it rains? All the hype for nothing.
