Thank God that the damage Trump did on that trip wasn't worse.


Pray it doesn't turn out as bad as it looks like it will.

To list the damage:

- Told the world that we stand with authoritarian governments
and no longer care about human rights.

- Told the puritanical, Al Qaeda-supporting Sunni Muslim world
 that Iran - i.e. the Shia Muslims - are implacable enemies
- thus taking a side in a centuries-old feud
and increasing the possibility of more war in the Middle East.

In doing so he
- Skipped an opportunity to speak directly to and congratulate the young people of Iran
who just days before had rejected an ultra-conservative anti-Western candidate -
he need not have even mentioned the winner, the incumbent Rouhani.
Instead he declared all of the Iranian people to be enemies of the world.
THAT was not smart.

- Insulted and lied to the faces of NATO leaders
- who are NOT failing to pay their fair share of NATO costs
and who are already increasing their defense spending - since before DJ Trump showed up.

- Left NATO and Europe in a position of not knowing if America still has their back.

More will surface as the dust settles and the impact of this incompetent nitwit's actions becomes clear.
