WWV...I was a victim of e-coli...even got to become a state and national statistic...after I was exposed and infected during a routine colonoscopy.  It was quite the newsmaker, finding out that local hospitals were not sanitizing equipment adequately.  And this was shortly after the ACA was in full force and people were hitting doctor's offices in droves and the usually quiet (when my hubby had his a couple years before there were about 3 people waiting in the lobby) gastro clinic was inundated with standing room only crowds daily for what could only be termed as "run them through like cattle" colonoscopies. 

So for someone to get such an infection, by accident, is one thing...but to put oneself in harm's way on purpose, it just boggles the mind...doesn't it?
