How refreshing.  We have a few drops this morning, but I still need to be outside piling up slash...

Got a good start yesterday, after we planted 7 trees and took down all the veggie garden fencing so we could use it as our burn pile area.  It felt so good to get out and break a sweat...Hubby got all the lawns mowed and I must have cut down another million dead blackberry canes while I was piling the stuff up.  We still have 2 full trees that were laid down by the power company contractors, but we did get an entire wood pile full from just the 4 huge limbs they took off our white pine.

What a lot of work takn.  In the first pic it looks as if you have the start of a Christmas farm there.  We went to lunch yesterday and took the route through the Christmas tree farms which is on our doorstep.  There were rows of baby trees planted so uniformly and it must take years for them to get to full size where they can sell them.  How do they ever make money out of it when so many people have the fake trees and you see the real thing still sitting on lots after Christmas?

Eventually.  Those are all hawthorn and blackberry canes.  I haven't gotten to the pine area yet.

Pine can be nasty for chimneys with all the resin.  Maybe you are considering an open pit.

Yes, it will be all outside burning for this.  We have a woodstove in the shop, but hubby will only burn the cut wood from the trees.  So far we have alder, hemlock, and white pine.  We have a couple of limbs that broke off the apple tree. I want hubby to chunk that up for smoking on the grill, and we'll do the same with some of the alder...we could probably sell some smoking chips, but not sure I want to spend that much time chopping big pieces of wood into millions of tiny pieces of wood, LOL.

I told hubby he needs a log splitter for father's day.
