Everybody who works pays into Social Security and Medicare.

Make Medicare available to anyone who wants to buy into it.

Raise the cap on FICA premiums so the rich can pay the same rate working people pay.

Insurance companies would compete with their own plans that will be regulated sensibly
- not deregulated like the right-wing of the GOP wants.

The U.S. spends more on health care per person, and as a percentage of gross domestic product, than any other advanced nation in the world, including Australia, Canada, Denmark, France, Germany, Japan, New Zealand and the United Kingdom. But all that money has not made Americans healthier than the rest of the world. Quite simply, in our high-priced health care system that leaves millions overlooked, we spend more yet end up with less.

Other industrialized nations are making the morally principled and financially responsible decision to provide universal health care to all of their people—and they do so while saving money by keeping people healthier. Those who say this goal is unachievable are selling the American people short.

Our healthcare coverage was not a problem it just needed a few minor touches to protect consumers, instead the government got involved and destroyed the healthcare system in America!

put the 5%-10% of the population with preexisting serious catastrophic illness into a socialistic/federally funded pool...a minority % that already accounts for 80%+ of health care industry expenses (most of that 80% is already funded by medicare/medicaid on the very elderly in the last year or two of their chronically debilitated lives).

the remaining lesser risk population could fund their own insurance risk with much lower premiums.

or put everyone in medicare/medicaid type single payer system with the federal government providing a substantial socialistic subsidy to the seriously ill...of course that would mean eliminating 30%? the private/parasitic insurance industry middle man cost/profits that serve no health care purpose.

Not only is nothing ever FREE. But make Health care FREE to everyone and the government pay for it, watch as the doctors and hospitals immediately increase what they charge by 100% each year until the government can no longer pay the bill and we end up just like Venezuela within 3 years.
 
Doctors (all doctors) want to be millionaires either by the time they are 30, or within the first year out of medical school. FREE Health Care will make that happen. 
 
And the taxes we will end up having to pay will be 90% of our income.  Making everyone else dirt poor. But not to worry, at least we will all be the same. Just like Socialists want it.
 
All the poor will be as poor as the rest of the poor, and all the elites will be as elite as the rest of the elites.
