The objectives of broadening access to insurance and lowering health-care costs have always been in conflict, and it remains unclear how the plan that the incoming administration is designing - or ones that will emerge on Capitol Hill - would address that tension.


Says some stupid reporter.  Lowering costs by deregulating and removing roadblocks to competition along with tax relief for medical expenses automatically broadens access.

Costs incurred by patients and the insurers are exorbitant. $60 office visit? Outrageous drug costs? Labs are absurd, and any lengthy stay will bankrupt most people. Not to mention malpractice insurance.
Then we often have the fact that Dr's are not actual hospital staff, but contracted to work......

There are a lot of ways to reduce cost, but making everyone pay for mandated coverage is not one of them.

Chuck...you should be ashamed of yourself, beating up on poor little FIP like jw. So Repeal of obamacare is going to happen and dems simply cannot deal with it. So allowing me to buy catastrophic insurance for the major health issues, then allow a tax deductible HSA...with a year-to-year carry over...drugs could be purchased from Canada.
