Either way is fine, so long as someone doesn't come back at me, if I happen to say Merry Christmas...

Because frankly, after spending so many years behind a cash register and having management drill into our heads that we had to "Happy Holidays", when a customer would say "Merry Christmas" to me, I was still compelled to answer in kind.
