I didn't hear any booms myself but here is my question...
 
Why did they they have to scramble two F15s from Portland when we have a joint military base Lewis/McChord, within 10 minutes distance and Naval stations to the north within about 20 minutes?

I suppose it depends on who got the "standby" assignment for the Presidents flight.

They dont keep fighter aircraft in Hot Standby at every installation.

baretta, if you look at the numbers, Patty Murray was at 46% last night, her two republican competitors came out at 46%, so it's all neck and neck and with the top two voter getters going to the general election, that will mean those who voted for the lessor republican will likely support the top vote getting republican Dino Rossi. 
So, it will be a fight.
 
It is unfortunate (uh pretty shitty actually) that the elections board chose to fail the people by not announcing the departure from sending out voter's pamphlets, by failing to mail out ballots to thousands and by not clearly having the polling drops announced till last minute...a lot of senior citizens, especially, are dependent upon the pamphlets and so I think there were far fewer ballots cast because of the confusion...
