FBI warns states, says foreign hackers targeted election systems - one cyber breach so far
 
 



The FBI issued a recent warning to state election officials to beef up their cybersecurity measures after foreign hackers broke into one state’s election system and targeted another.
 
The FBI confirmed to Fox News on Monday it issued a “flash” alert on Aug. 18, urging states to contact their Board of Elections if they suspect a breach.
 
In the flash alert from its cyber division, the FBI said it was investigating a pair of incidents and giving states specific signs to look out for to determine if their system had been hacked.
 
The FBI did not say which state was hacked or which one was targeted but says eight computers were involved.
 
Yahoo News, which first reported the story, identified the targeted states as Arizona and Illinois.
 
The FBI's Aug. 18 warning came after Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson held a conference call with various state election officials to discuss cybersecurity issues.

I don't know about ISIS but I'm sure most organized and advance countries with lots of resources like China, Russia, Israel, etc. know lots of stuff about the workings of our government and military.

0bama INCORRECTLY accused the Russians of hacking into the DNC... and now 0bama's agencies are doing it again.

They have absolutely no proof it was the Russians.

two cybersecurity firms, Fidelis Cybersecurity and Mandiant, independently corroborated Crowdstrike’s assessment that Russian hackers infiltrated DNC networks, having found that the two groups that hacked into the DNC used malware and methods identical to those used in other attacks attributed to the same Russian hacking groups.

But some of the most compelling evidence linking the DNC breach to Russia was found at the beginning of July by Thomas Rid, a professor at King’s College in London, who discovered an identical command-and-control address hardcoded into the DNC malware that was also found on malware used to hack the German Parliament in 2015.

According to German security officials, the malware originated from Russian military intelligence. An identical SSL certificate was also found in both breaches.

“It doesn’t strain credulity to look to the Russians,” says Morgan Marquis-Boire, a malware expert with CitizenLab. “This is not the first time that Russian hackers has been behind intrusions in US government, and it seems unlikely that it will be the last.” Last year Russian hackers were able to breach White House and State Department email servers, gleaning information even from President Obama’s Blackberry.
