To the Democratic National Committee elites, keeping average Americans away from their convention is a good idea, while protecting the southern border from intruding terrorists, rapists and murderers is a bad one.
The DNC has erected a four-mile fence around its convention site at Philadelphia’s Wells Fargo Center. (Isn’t it ironic they’re doing so much to protect a site named after a bank?)

As a convention host, Philadelphia was awarded more than $43 million federal dollars to cover security expenses.




(CNN) - Fueled by grievances over the party's treatment of Bernie Sanders and doubts over Hillary Clinton's progressive credentials, tens of thousands of protesters are putting a fragile post-primary detente to the test on the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia.


Pro-Sanders groups were celebrating Democratic National Committee chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz's announcement she will step down after the convention. But even as they cheered news of her long lobbied-for departure, the broad coalition of protesters here pledged to keep up the heat on the Democratic establishment.

For much of the Sanders hardcore, a vocal group that will not vote for Clinton under any circumstances, the real enemy has always been the DNC. Philadelphia will give them an opportunity to rage against a party apparatus.

"We will begin mass civil disobedience to bring our demand into the streets and the halls of the convention tomorrow."

Unlike Cleveland, where scattershot demonstrations routinely dissolved among infighting and an overwhelming police presence, the protesters descending on the DNC have a more coherent slate of demands and, with a new Wikileaks release of documents that seems to show Democratic officials discussing ways to undermine Sanders' bid, freshly ignited anger at the party's handling of the nominating contest.

Now, with high heat already in the region and heavy storms on the horizon, Philadelphia is preparing for a more contentious series of showdowns than many expected even a few weeks ago.

The city, which has not revealed how many of its 6,200 officers will be assigned to the convention, plans to bring in about 160 "mutual aid" personnel from neighboring departments.

Fences, barricades go up for Republican National Convention




Crews have put up what they call "global fencing" around the city in preparation for the Republican National Convention.
On Wednesday, the fences were spotted around Willard Park, near FirstEnergy Stadium.
They will help with security as protesters gather around town.
Barricades are also being set up on East 9th Street.
Police will use them for road closures as we get closer to the start of the convention.

WKYC crews saw truckloads of fencing being installed early Thursday morning.

Saturday, a 12-hour security sweep will take place at Quicken Loans Arena.

The RNC runs July 18-21.

Still, security at the RNC in Cleveland is at unprecedented levels. There is mesh fencing all around the inner street areas near the Quicken Loans Arena. Bomb-sniffing dogs and some 3,000 police from Ohio and as far away as California are on hand. It made for long lines and long waits for delegates to get inside.
