The report also finds that the military did not carry out then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta's order to deploy U.S. forces to help rescue Americans under fire in Benghazi.



The report claimed that White House officials convened a meeting at 7:30 PM just after the attack began which ran about two hours long. During the meeting, administration officials focused on an anti-Islamic YouTube video. Other action items discussed during the meeting said that before military support is provided , “Libya must agree to any deployment.”

Also included in the report was the fact that a Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Team (FAST), was activated in Rota, Spain, but was grounded for as many as three hours. FAST teams are comprised of highly trained Marine Corps elements responsible for protecting Navy and Marine Corps assets abroad in emergency situations.

Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz (Utah) acknowledged on Wednesday that House Republicans had consciously voted to reduce the funds allocated to the State Department for embassy security since winning the majority in 2010.

CNN anchor Soledad O’Brien asked the Utah Republican if he had “voted to cut the funding for embassy security.”

“Absolutely,” Chaffetz said. “Look we have to make priorities and choices in this country."
