Squirrels have not been a fixture in our neighborhood, ever...but we once had a mountain beaver end up in our yard and we consulted the Fish and Game and they gave us permission to set it free in a local stream (they were too lazy, I guess, to drive out and pick it up themselves)...

haven't seen a white breasted squirrel in 10 years... how cute... miss them... the ones we have here are tan in color...

the black ones look like rats... I don't know maybe they are....here...

Don't you just want to hug him, pacifica? I have a pair of them and both are little cuties.   I put vaseline on the bird pole so they cannot climb it now and empty them out so as long as they eat up the ground food, they are not the pita. :-)
