Local, so you are saying that up until modern times every woman was a virgin right up until the moment she gave birth? If true a barren harlot would have been considered a virgin. Is that true? Just asking because I had never heard that before.

The bible is mans interpretation of ancient Hebrew text. Sometimes to get the true meaning one has to go back to the source. One also has to remember the Bible we know today only contains "books" selected by the church.

Here is an example of meaning changing over the years.

The word "Awful" used to mean full of Awe

Words do not retain the same meaning from one generation to the next in some cases.

You are arguing over the meaning of one word. The sections in the bible that refer to it are NOT relying on that one word, they make it explicitly clear that Mary is not pregnant from sex but by the holy spirit. Joseph even considers leaving her over it.

And then there is what christians actually believed from around the 3rd century to today, which is she got pregnant before having sex. Any changes to meaning of the word virgin is a red herring.
