I knew two people that claim to have hears it, one said he saw it, the other saw tracks and a 55 gallon drum of oil, that tossed at least fifteen feet, over loose freshly turned soil.
One was in California near the Oregon border and the other on the Oregon cost.
I have my doubts, that they exist, but it is a good story.
I really like novels written by Molly Gloss, and "Wild Life", is a great and feasible tale about them.

There was a Missouri Monster aka MO MO. People say they saw  him.  It was all over the news the early 70's. He flipped a car over out at our city park.
