wvit1001, do you not understand that MANY who fought for the Confederate States did so because they felt that their state's RIGHTS under the Constitution were being DENIED to them by the FEDERAL government?

Look, I hate the idea of slavery as much as the next person.  But that was NOT the only issue in why the southern states seceded from the Union in 1861, and it was not the only reason many southerners fought in the army of the CSA.

That is just HISTORICAL FACT.

I was a history major, back in the day.

Many of us had family's that didn't agree so they fought and won. But that is no reason to hate or disrespect those who lost.
