GLOBAL WARMING? NASA says Antarctic has been COOLING for past SIX years

ANTARCTIC temperatures have cooled over the past six years, according to US space agency NASA.

By Jon Austin
Wed, Nov 25, 2015

An intensive scientific study of both Earth's poles has found that from 2009 to 2016 overall temperature has dropped in the southern polar region.

NASA’s Operation IceBridge is an airborne survey of polar ice and has finalised two overlapping research campaigns at both the poles.

In the last few weeks NASA has revealed the overall amount of ice has increased at the Antarctic and the amount of sea ice has also extended.

Coupled with the latest announcement of slight cooling in the area, it has fuelled claims from climate change deniers that human industrialisation is not having the huge impact on global tenperature as often is claimed.

Christopher Shuman, a University of Maryland, Baltimore County glaciologist working at Goddard, said: "Field data suggests that there’s been a modest cooling in the area over the 2009–2015 time period, and images collected during that time by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer on the Terra and Aqua satellites show more persistent fast ice (sea ice that is attached to the shore) in the Larsen A and Larsen B embayments”

However, Mr Shuman warned that in some areas of the Antarctic, glaciers continued to melt at significant levels, despite  the slight temperature drop.

At the south polio, the mission observed a big drop in the height of two glaciers situated in the Antarctic Peninsula.

Mr Shuman added: "These IceBridge measurements show that once the ice shelves collapse, even some cooling and a good deal of persistent sea ice is not able to hold back these larger glaciers and they continue to lose mass overall.”

The New ‘Consensus’: 97 Percent Of Americans Aren’t Worried About Global Warming

Michael Bastasch

9:46 AM 11/25/2015

While 97 percent of scientists may agree mankind is driving global warming, 97 percent of Americans don’t seem to care about the issue when stacked up against other concerns such as terrorism or the economy, according to a recent Fox News poll.

A November Fox News poll of more than 1,000 registered voters found that only 3 percent listed “climate change” as the most important issue facing the country today, down from 5 percent in August. Americans were much more worried about terrorism, the economy and immigration than global warming.....

Let's see what NASA has to say on the subject since it's their work that your twisting -

“We’re essentially in agreement with other studies that show an increase in ice discharge in the Antarctic Peninsula and the Thwaites and Pine Island region of West Antarctica,” said Jay Zwally, a glaciologist with NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland, and lead author of the study, which was published on Oct. 30 in the Journal of Glaciology. “Our main disagreement is for East Antarctica and the interior of West Antarctica – there, we see an ice gain that exceeds the losses in the other areas.”  Zwally added that his team “measured small height changes over large areas, as well as the large changes observed over smaller areas.”

But it might only take a few decades for Antarctica’s growth to reverse, according to Zwally. “If the losses of the Antarctic Peninsula and parts of West Antarctica continue to increase at the same rate they’ve been increasing for the last two decades, the losses will catch up with the long-term gain in East Antarctica in 20 or 30 years -- I don’t think there will be enough snowfall increase to offset these losses.”

“The good news is that Antarctica is not currently contributing to sea level rise, but is taking 0.23 millimeters per year away,” Zwally said. “But this is also bad news. If the 0.27 millimeters per year of sea level rise attributed to Antarctica in the IPCC report is not really coming from Antarctica, there must be some other contribution to sea level rise that is not accounted for.”

The lack of significant warming at the south polar region as a whole contradicts greenhouse theory, which predicts that the fastest rate of warming will occur at the poles.   Not only it is not the fastest rate, but it's hardly warming at all in that region as a whole.  The data is consistent with the 1500-year cycle data, however.

over the past 4 mill years, greenhouse theory predicts the fastest warming and cooling will occur over the northern hemisphere/north pole...
because that is where north american geologic land mass is most pronounced.

over the last 4 million years, antarctica is a polar anomaly because less land mass is in the southern hemisphere/south pole.

Even the north polar region is not warming at the rate predicted by greenhouse theory.  It (and the south polar region) should increase five times more than that of the tropic region according to greenhouse theory.  It is actually not even two times greater in the north polar region.  Whereas, the south polar region is warming less than the tropic region.  If the data doesn't fit the prediction, the theory fails.

when dealing with even lower mid term (100 - 300+ year) climate change, conclusions based on 10-20-50 years of data does not bake the cake.

in other words, your 1 - 20 year conclusions are spurious when trying to claim a link to later short term/or even early mid term climate change effects.

TODAY, anywhere in the world, my back yard was warmer/colder than any short to mid term global cooling/warming model predicted.
